Recognition of Prior Learning

The A.S.S.E.S.S. Prior Learning and Experience Program

Skills Recognition incorporates Recognition of Prior Learning, Recognition of Current Competence and Credit Transfer for units previously achieved.

The A.S.S.E.S.S. Prior Learning and Experiences Program is for applicants who have significant experience, but lack formal training, or who have previous qualifications along with substantial experience. These applicants can often gain or upgrade qualifications without completing formal training programs.

Applicants are assessed on their workplace competence and underpinning knowledge, to gauge their level of expertise. The A.S.S.E.S.S. Program recognises knowledge already gained from other studies, work experience, and/or everyday life experience.

The A.S.S.E.S.S. Program is used to gain recognition in our nationally recognised qualifications such as:

  • RUV20104 Certificate II in Animal Studies
  • RUV40404 Certificate IV in Veterinary
  • RUV30304 Certificate III in Companion Animal Studies
  • RUV40304 Certificate IV in Companion Animal Studies
  • RUV50404 Diploma of Veterinary Nursing (Emergency and Critical Care)
  • RUV50204 Diploma of Veterinary Nursing (Surgical)

When it comes to recognising veterinary nurse's and animal carer's current competency within the workplace, the AIRC are more than happy to support applicants who believe they have the appropriate skills and knowledge in line with the stated industry standards as documented in the Animal Care and Management Training Package.
